On Setting Goals

I have a pretty lofty goal on my agenda, but I think it's one that I can achieve...

and I'm wondering what kinds of goals you have reached that you never thought you could?

Well obviously for me, the birth of my daughter is one goal that I never knew I could accomplish until she was here, looking up at me with those gorgeous eyes. I mean, I'm afraid of needles, and people kept threatening me with the fact that I would be poked with needles continuously during my pregnancy...this isn't true, I really was only poked a few times, and only almost passed out once. : )

When I set my sights on something, I get pretty competitive, it must be the sports-background in me. It's not necessarily that I want to be the best at everything anymore, like I did when I was younger, but I still want to be pretty darn awesome! I now have the lyrics "I've learned to never underestimate, the impossible," by Joe Nichols running through my head : )

I have never really been one to put my goals down on paper, but I'm going to keep giving that a try. What has worked for you?

I have been setting some pretty lofty goals for myself with my desired end result being an all-inclusive trip to Cancun. I know this trip is totally attainable, it just requires taking much bigger steps out of my comfort zone. I have been building up to this by taking smaller steps. For example, I would definitely characterize myself as a friendly person, I just sometimes take a little time to warm up to others. I am also a genuine person, and don't want others to feel that I am only out to make friends with them to get something from them. In our world today, there are already so many different objectives grabbing our attention and straying us from our path!

Blogging is also a new goal for me, I am getting more into the swing of it, but haven't really been in the mindset of jotting down my thoughts lately. For those of you with kids, this is even more apparent, and how they make us lose track of what we were planning to do. So my goal is to write at least 2 posts a month, and I want them to cover a variety of topics.

What are some goals you have set and achieved? What is something you thought you would never accomplish and did? Or, what is something that you are working on at this point in time, and are planning on seeing the desired result?
